Musical Opportunities
Immanuel Lutheran School recognizes the value- of music- and its rich heritage in the Lutheran Church. Immanuel offers a wide variety of opportunities for the children to participate in the field of music. In addition to regular classroom music, the children can select from choral and/or instrumental activities. All rehearsals are held during the school day.
Choral: Three choirs give the students the opportunity to use their voices and sing praises to their Lord.
Primary Choir consists of all the students in grades two and three.
Junior Choir consists of all the students in grades in four and five.
Children's Choir consists of students in grades six, seven, and eight who have expressed an interest in the choir These choirs sing on a scheduled basis for Immanuel's Sunday worship services.
Strings: Students from kindergarten through eighth grade have the opportunity to pursue the violin. The students are taught how to play the violin by using the Suzuki method The lessons are held weekly during the school day.
Instrumental: Students in grades four through eight have the opportunity to participate in an organized band program lessons are given in wind, brass, and percussion instruments. Lessons and rehearsals are held once a week during the school day. Concerts are planned throughout the school year to give opportunity for the participants to perform.
Bells: A select group of students from the junior high learn the art of handbell ringing. The handbells are scheduled on the same days the Children’s Choir sings.
Recorders: The fourth grade students receive instruction in a basic instrument, the recorder. Through this instruction they strive to read music and play simple melodies.
